Biography
Michell Lie is a self taught Hong Kong born artist based in the United Kingdom. Working with Chinese ink, acrylic and ultra fine linework, she creates contemporary abstractions shaped by movement, emotion and the interplay between bold gesture and delicate detail. Her practice transforms the language of traditional ink into a modern expression of contrast and harmony, balancing energy with stillness and clarity with complexity.
Before becoming a full time artist, Lie worked in branding and visual communication, a background that informs the intentionality and compositional precision of her work. Since 2017 she has developed an international presence through exhibitions and collaborations, including the Affordable Art Fair in Hong Kong and London, as well as creative projects with Lane Crawford, Holt Renfrew and Anagram. Her work is held in private and corporate collections across Asia, Europe and North America.
